The Benefits of a Adopting a Pet from the Shelter

Posted June 9th, 2010 by admin

Adopting a shelter pet is such a rewarding experience for you, the animal and the shelter. You will not only be saving a life, but you will be giving a stray animal a good home and also help assist the shelter with their immediate cause!

Many pets are not only in shelters for being mistreated or abused, but may also be there due to divorce, a move, illness, or economic reasons to name a few. Also, with adopting an animal from the shelter you be getting a healthy pet that may include; vaccinations, heart-worm testing, spay/neuter, and an evaluation of behavior. You can also get the help from the staff in making the decision on which pet is right for you and your family!

From a certain species of animal to a specific breed, there is such a wide range of choices in a shelter. So these loving pets from all shapes and sizes patiently wait for you in their hopes of finding a permanent home! I personally know when I adopted my dog Gabby and cat Mandy that with just one look into those big sad brown…and green eyes…is all that it took to make me a believer of the unconditional love that shelter pets can give you. Mardella , owner of A-1 Pet Care adds “After losing my favorite cat Busterfield in August of 2009, I decided to go to two local pet shelters…to adopt a pet. I came home with four of the greatest cats!”

All of us here at A-1 Pet Care encourage you to take a peek your local shelters first to give a loyal pet the second chance at life and the possibility of joining your loving family!
