Comfort Zone with Feliway is a veterinarian recommended product that helps to end urine marking, vertical scratching and stressful environments. It is a very natural solution to many problems and I highly recommend it.
As a pet sitter / business owner I have serviced many pets that at times are just not happy campers with me or with there cat mates. In relation to the Feliway product I would like to describe to you a rather amusing experience I had with one of my client’s pets. For the sake of privacy let’s just name him Aggressive the cat! His family was headed off to the other side of the world for six weeks. Because this is a very long time to be alone in a home by your self, I volunteered to keep Aggressive in my very large spare bedroom. This would allow him to have more company and better care for the time they would be away. My plan was to lavish Aggressive with TLC! Before Aggressive was left they had told me that he liked his space. I had also noticed that they were very nervous when Aggressive sniffed our pant legs on the original interview. I of course brushed their concern aside and informed them that I was great with cats. I wanted them to bring him by a day before so he could get use to his new SPACE…for some reason they chose not to do so and insisted that they drive him over just before they left for the airport.
After they left I went about the business of taking care of my clients and later in the day would return to check on Mr. Aggressive. Well as I entered the room that I had carefully prepared for him he took one look at me and on all fours, charged as he had laid claim on my guest room as his territory. I quickly left the room in a state of shock…that Aggressive was not a kitten but a ferocious Lion that did not want to play ball. Of course this put me in a dilemma because his family was now over the Atlantic on there way to a fabulous reunion. The next couple of days proved to be disaster for my legs and my arms…as Aggressive took great delight in sinking his claws deep into my skin and then chasing me out of the room with the meanest cat eyes I have ever seen.
As the days went on I became more stressed out and Aggressive became more confident that he was in charge and I was an intruder. After a while and out of self defense I began to layer my cloths…at first it was just a shirt, then two of my husbands heavy padded jackets…finely the three pairs of heavy pants…now I was prepared to take on the battle. As I got more and more padded I began to look like I was an armored knight from ancient times.
After a week of this my veterinarian came by to see one of my cats for a check up and as she was leaving I began to tell her of my dilemma and I asked if she new of any product that would calm the little hellion down. To my relief she began to tell me of a product that the vets used to relax the cats in stressful situations. She said it did not work on all cats but most cats experienced a calmer state of mind. WELL…the minute she left I rushed out of the house to the nearest pet store and asked for this miracle product FELIWAY…For me it was not cheap but worth a try. Aggressive and I had five weeks to go and he had to eat and I had to live!
WHAT IS FELIWAY…I came to find out that Feliway is a product that contains the synthetic version of facial pheromones of cats…it is a chemical marking agent that cats use to mark there territory…in other words it makes the cat feel like mommy is here and all is well! It is a very natural solution for cats and in some cases for dogs in stress related circumstances. HOW DO YOU USE IT?…Simply, you plug it into your wall socket and walk away…to me there is no smell to the human nose ( a word of caution in some cases if you have Asthma you may want to check with your doctor first) After you purchase the plug in you simply replace it with a refill about once a month. The product roughly covers about 500-650 square feet. Well back to AGGRESSIVE THE CAT, almost as soon as I plugged in this product Aggressive went from the terror cat of all times to the sweetest little kitten you would ever want to have. Boy… was I impressed! With in a couple of days I was able to shed my six layers of cloths and as I entered Aggressive would sit at my feet purring and licking my shoes. This is a remarkable product and since this experience I have recommended this product to many of my clients. In all cases they have experienced a 100% success rate or a notable change in bad habits or aggressive behavior. You do not need to have a bad relationship with your pet. This product is recommended for: a changing environment, introduction of a new pet or baby ( check with doctor first), Veterinarian visits, urine marking and territorial spats, undesirable scratching…in some cases it only has a partial effect but in most it is dramatic…YES AGGRESSIVE AND I LEARNED TO SHARE HIS SPACE >>>AND HE WENT HOME A HAPPY CAT! And I have been recommending Feliway ever since.

Feliway is awesome! It comes in a spray as well as the plug in (great for carriers, the car, etc) and the dog version is called DAP. It is also part of the solution I recommend for cats who are urinating outside the litterbox. Love this stuff!!
